Many years ago in a land that time had forgotten, an ancient feud between two brothers threatened to bring an end to Christmas as we know it. Nikolas and Odin of Myra were from a magical family, a family that used the power within them to bring peace and happiness to people throughout the land, but when Odin was born tragically disfigured it threatened to change things forever.
Odin became a victim of abuse and was constantly tormented by this around him, as time went by he began to hide away from the world and became the prisoner in his own life. His brother Nikolas found it hard to convince Odin that his true beauty lay beneath the surface. Nikolas was a kind and giving soul, who used his magic to bring a smile to the faces of children across the world. He would use the Elves to assist him in his quest, magical little people that some say were orphaned children frozen in time, and the only thing that would age would be their ears.
Over the years Odin became more and more twisted by the evil spirits that haunted his dreams, he began to hate his brother for what he did for those who had betrayed him, the children that tormented him throughout his childhood. The anger eventually grew too much for Odin and one day he snapped and an evil curse was spread, a curse that would reach the mind of every child. Odin pledged that never again would children believe in anything magic, never again would children believe in the special time that his brother Nikolas had created. Christmas, was lost forever.
Despite the obvious heartbreak at his brothers wicked plot, Nikolas of Myra never lost faith. He always said that you couldn’t stop a person longing for something more, he hoped that one day the curse would lift and the snow would fall and children would once again believe in the spirit of Christmas. Hundreds of years had past when the saviour came in the shape of a nine year old girl called Alice Cross.
Alice, her brother Thomas and their two friends Rose and Penny would embark on a magical journey of hope. They would meet some enchanting characters along the way, which would help piece together the mystery of the past. Alice’s short life would bare a striking resemblance to that of the mysterious Odin, and it would be her innocence and her understanding of his true emotion that would help provide the clues to this ancient mystery.
The Lost Christmas is a heart warming festive tale that will take you on a roller coaster of emotion. Packed with tradition, amazing characters and some stunning individual and ensemble performances, this production will bring a lump to your throat and will surely get you in the mood for Christmas.
