After a year of online classes and some unforgettable digital initiatives, April saw the long-awaited return of our students (in their physical form!) to the Artz Centre buildings; and we could not be happier to welcome our family home.

For the last 12 months, the rooms of our popular community venues have felt like nothing but a shell of their former selves. The buildings themselves may have been royally spruced up during the lockdown months, but to put it simply, our Artz Centres only come alive when they’re filled with our local young people.
With the country moving along the Covid-19 roadmap, community venues allowed to reopen, and youth provision getting the green light to resume; the 13th and 14th of April saw the return of our Up Holland and Birch Green Musical Theatre Academy sessions. The two evenings saw over 10 hours of rehearsal time split between 6 classes, working towards 5 Shows: The Gruffalo, Winnie the Pooh, Suessical: The Musical, The Little Mermaid and Once on this Island (phew!). All set to be staged later in Summer, 2021.
Currently, with restrictions still in place, performance dates and details for our Summer productions are still completely up-in-the-air. But one thing is for sure, we’re all delighted to be finally allowed to get back to doing what-we-do-best in the rehearsal room. It’s certainly a huge step in the right direction, and we cannot praise our students enough for the positive attitude, commitment and resilience they have shown over the past 12 months.
