This here is not only a see you guys soon message, but a reflection of my Artz journey. Here I would like to talk about some of the things I have learned and moreover what my next steps are as I have left my apprenticeship.
All though my apprenticeship had started 9 months ago, I can confirm that this is not when my full Artz Centre journey had started. This journey had started about 10 years ago where I had joined the centre with no real experience at all in theatre. I was welcomed with open arms by everyone there and I was extremely delighted to be able to be a part of something with such a good energy to it. It was over my first few years in which I was guided by my peer mentors where I then had decided that I wanted to be able to help others in the same way that I was helped.
As I got older more opportunities where provided to me and my favourite one out of them all, onstage and off was the chance to become a peer mentor. As a peer mentor I was able to pass on knowledge to the next generation and help them grow not only into better performers but into much better people too! Seeing the impact I could have on people which I wouldn’t have had if it wasn’t for the Centre had opened my eyes up to so much such as the apprenticeship. From start to end of this apprenticeship I have been physically and mentally encouraged to be the best version of myself that I can be. I have benefited in so many different ways as I have been exposed to new opportunities to lead and develop my skills in stage management, creative leadership, project management and much more through a variety of projects over the years.
Now, what are my next steps? As I look to find what to move on to, the first place I look is to something still linked with performance and/or theatre. I have grew such a love/passion for theatre over the many years I have spent at Artz; where I was supported and guided in becoming the best version of myself and taught by some of the best practitioners. My next step will more than likely be to look at colleges and for a job. I can do this using the skills in communication and also in presentation that I have learned. I think I would like to look at performing arts based subjects such as music, musical theatre, tech theatre and stage management or even something else along these lines.
I really look forward to the next few steps and moving on to something a little new. What also gives me the extra boost to keep going is all the people who have continued to support and help guide me in the right direction after this apprenticeship. It’s those who are really making this choice easier and more over I appreciate it so much and can not thank you all enough.
