ABOUT

Did you know that you can earn Chapters as an Artz Student in one of our Technical Roles?

At the Artz Centre we don’t just offer experiences in performance and the performing arts, but also in the creative disciplines that “make performance possible“.

In fact, over the years, many of our students have arrived at the Artz Academy as performers, and have successfully transitioned to fulfil a multitude of technical roles throughout their time here, too.

At the Artz Centre, we periodically offer short courses in Level 1 Beginners Technical Theatre (accredited by West Lancs College), and subsequently offer Technical Theatre placements on a show-by-show basis to interested students.

CREATIVE

DIRECTING

Learn the craft of directing by shadowing one of our many youth theatre directors, working within our Artz MT Academies.

CHOREOGRAPHY

Begin gaining experience in choreography by shadowing one of our Dance Principles, working within our Artz Dance Academies.

LIGHTING DESIGN

Begin to learn the trade of lighting by working alongside one of our in-house Lighting Designers during an Artz Show Week.

SOUND ENGINEERING

Gain an understanding of live sound for theatre and events, by working with our in-house Sound Engineer during an Artz Event.

COSTUME DESIGN

Learn about costumes from conception to creation by shadowing one of our Wardrobe Team through an entire Show process.

PROP MAKING

Turn your hand to the intricacies of prop sourcing and prop making, prepping all held objects for an upcoming Artz Centre Production.

SET DESIGN

Understand the scale of set design, the benefits to the performers and the process of set creation and erection.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Become a seasoned Artz Paparazzi, learn how to plan for and take the more effective photos during events and shows.

PRODUCTIONS

RIGGING TEAM

Each show requires a specialist team to rig all technical equipment before the designers arrive. Shadow our riggers and learn the craft.

STAGE MANAGEMENT

Our Stage Team keep the backstage environment of a production ship shape, learn what makes the well oiled machine turn.

THEATRE TECHNICIAN

Whilst the designers plot lighting states, our technicians run a variety of cues during a show, shadow one of technicians in this role.

CHAPERONING

Some of our Academy productions feature up to 120 young people. Our Chaperones keep the drama strictly on-stage.

HOSPITALITY

FRONT OF HOUSE

Shadow our Front of House team and learn to excel in customer service, by facilitating a number of roles during our Artz Productions.

TICKET SALES

Shadow our Box Office team, understand how our Ticketing system works, and learn vital and transferrable skills during a Production Week.

USHERING

A key role in Health and Safety across all of our Events, become a public face for Artz Productions by assisting our audiences.

LIBRARY

Shadow our Artz Library staff, gain an understanding of what it means to be a Community Library and help to facilitate our service.
