APPRENTICE BLOG V.2 – CHAPTER 6: LEARNING IS A PROCESS

0

One of my favourite jobs that I do here at the Artz Centre is the work I do for our professional clients, it’s the kind of thing most of our Artz Community don’t really get to see but it takes up a large portion of my working week here at the centre and I absolutely love it!

One client we have worked really close with over the past 12 months is the absolute powerhouse, Girl Boss that is Bev Roberts, Editor-in-Chief of About the Town. I came onto the creative team for About the Town a little over 12 months ago when fellow Artz Apprentice (or ex-Artz Apprentice now *tries not to cry*) Joe Howard began the development of their website. This creative partnership quickly spiralled and the Artz Centre took on the super exciting job of getting to design the magazine as well!

This was one of my first jobs when I began my apprenticeship here in March and it quickly became one of my favourite!

Last week saw the launch of our 4th magazine as the creative team behind About the Town and I am beyond proud of what we have managed to achieve with this edition, 48 pages, fully interactive, visually stunning (if I do say so myself!) it is record-breaking for About the Town and the whole About the Town team has worked so hard to make it the best one yet.

Getting to this point has been an incredible learning process for me, each magazine acting as a milestone for my progress here within my Apprenticeship. Every quarter brought new challenges and things to learn but thanks to the incredible guidance and support I have received from Mark (Artz Company Director) and the rest of the Artz team, I have been able to use each new issue as an opportunity to get better and produce the best work possible for Bev and all marvellous things she does over at About the Town.

I am so grateful for the opportunity my apprenticeship provides me to do the work I love with some of the most awe-inspiring people. So, now it’s time to turn my attention onto the rest of the year with 3 shows, 5 weeks and undoubtedly a billion new things to learn in the process!
