With this in mind, sometimes the hard work required to execute a full-scale musical theatre production can understandably be too much for young children; some are overwhelmed by the amount of things they need to learn, and some struggle to cope with the pressures that having a deadline presents. Yet, in the same breath, this environment can be a place where some young individuals thrive, despite these pressures and deadlines; and having the ability to shoulder these responsibilities and flourish, is how new stars are born.
As with all of our Junior Academy shows, there is a somewhat fascinating and intriguing element of risk involved in our casting of such young, and often very new-to-the-stage, performers. Will they freeze on opening night? Will they forgot their lines and cues? Or will they manage to hold their nerve, and show everyone exactly what they have learned, and worked so hard to achieve, over the past 6 months? Once again, our Junior Academy Summer Production cast is littered with new faces and new talents at the forefront; and some old faces in their first leading roles, too.
Each and every member of this cast deserves great credit for enduring their journey, and seeing the production from page-to-stage; as each student will have learnt important lessons, that will certainly benefit them in all aspects of their lives, to come. The stage can be a daunting place for even the most confident of adults; so imagine what it is like for the quietest of child. But make no mistake, each and every one of these youngsters have not made it to “Show Week” by accident…
They have worked hard, they have aimed high and perhaps most importantly, they have been true to themselves. And for that, they will always have my utmost respect. So, it is now your turn to sit back and take pride in this fantastic young cast of Aladdin…
