At the Artz Centre, the staff and team are committed to carving the path towards local educational excellence in the arts and creative fields; and with the student’s recent RSL Exam (Performing Arts Award) results, it is safe to say that they are doing just that.
This weekend, the award winning Social Enterprise had big results to celebrate: as 45 local young people arrived at the Artz Centre to collect the final grades from their “2019 Exam Show” back in September. The 45 local students, ranging from just 4 to 19 years of age, have spent the best part of the past 10 months working towards a variety of Graded Levels in these Musical Theatre qualifications, offered by the Artz Centre in collaboration with the accrediting body RSL.
The Accredited RSL Musical Theatre Programme offered by the Artz Centre is now in its second year of success; and this year the Artz Centre celebrated a 100% Pass rate for the second year running. But the good news didn’t stop there, 31 of the Artz Students entered for examinations this year achieved a ‘Pass with Merit’ grade, and 13 students celebrated a ‘Pass with Distinction’; a true reflection of the aspirational outlook of the Artz Centre, and all that they strive to achieve for our local young people.
The show day itself, facilitated at West Lancashire’s Hope Theatre in early September, was not just a matter of our local young people delivering high-quality performances throughout the production element; they also had to deliver a solo skills test in acting, dance or music, and participate in a reflective interview of their performance and technical knowledge of theatre practitioners and technique.
The cherry on the cake, perhaps, was the outstanding results of Megan Hogarth and Joseph Howard, who this year, became the Artz Centre’s very first students to undertake the RSL Level 4 Diploma in Performing Arts through the accredited programme. Both Megan and Joseph passed with Merit and Distinction, and are looking forward to continuing their RSL journey next year.

As the Artz Academy students now turn their attention to their end of year Drama production: Elf! The Musical, come January 2020, the Artz Centre’s all new RSL Exam Class will be commencing.
