When it comes to aiming high and being the best version of themselves; our students deliver ten fold, in pretty much everything they set their minds too. At the Artz Centre, our young people are not just talented, smart and resourceful; but they are true ambassadors and role models for the many young people in our local community.
When it comes to stepping into the spotlight, our students feel right at home. However, last week, our current Artz student of the year, Ekene Hallam, stepped up to take on a challenge of a whole new proportion; as she hosted the Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral’s Carols by Candlelight Service.
The special event, which is held every year at the Cathedral, and in aid of the NSPCC, was a magical evening of festive performances; featuring a choir of our very own Artz Academy exam students, alongside performances from St Matthew’s Primary School, the Wirral Concert Band, the Hive and Pop Vox. The evening set out to raise much needed funds for the NSPCC charity, to keep our local children safe; and was compered by non other than our very own, Ekene.
Ekene was invited by the NSPCC, as a representative of our student body, and our Student of the Year to the host the annual event; and she handled the responsibility with true style, class and grace. The evening of seasonal music saw performances from over 250 local children, to an audience of over 1000 local people, with Ekene leading the way with proceedings.
The evening was a stunning reflection of just what our young people have the power to achieve; what an incredible way to round off a fabulous year.
