This week, some local youngsters have been celebrating “National Story Telling Week” at the local Artz Centre, Up Holland, during their weekly Musical Theatre class. The group, facilitated for 4-7 year olds, meet each week to learn new skills in acting, singing and dance; whilst of course meeting new friends and gaining confidence, too.
But this week, in celebration of the written word and all things “Story Telling” the group had a slightly different focus. Lead practitioner Joe Howard ran a special session for the group, using stories and rhyme to continue teaching the little ones all about the wonderful world of the stage, but through the power of books. In addition to this, the Artz Centre have sponsored each of its Infant students to continue accessing the magic of story telling by equipping them each with a free Artz Library card membership, for the all new Artz Library Café facility, located next door.

Infant director, Joe, commented: “We are excited to encourage all of our students to take advantage of fabulous Library facility at the Up Holland Artz Centre alongside their weekly Performing Arts classes. Reading is a powerful tool for our local youngsters to learn to master, and we aim to inspire all of our local young people to pick up a book, and enjoy their all new local library resource”.
This exciting new Community Library and Café venue offers fresh coffee and hot drinks daily, free Wi-Fi and a vast selection of books; available to lend through the Centre’s all new book lending service. The book stock collection includes fiction, non-fiction, best sellers, a local history catalogue and a vibrant children’s section too, there really is something for everyone.
The all-new Cafe Library space is open for business Monday to Friday 10pm-3pm, with a late night service, 10pm until 9pm on a Tuesday and Thursday (to soon include weekend openings, too).
The Artz book lending service is free for members, and registration costs just £2.00 and the trendy new venue is also available for small functions and events at selected times (contact Artz Team for further details).
