HOME SCHOOL-ERS CAPTURE LOCKDOWN LIFE AT ARTZ CENTRE

For the past 6 weeks, the Artz Centre have played host to a project with a difference, welcoming the local home-school community to their local Birch Green Artz Centre venue, for an educational photography course.

The course comprised 6 learning sessions, with each session focusing on a different photographic skill and theme. The participants learnt all of the ‘photography basics’; from perspectives to framing, exploring texture and composition, to basic photo-editing skills, too.

The group of 20 photographers comprised local home-schooled children aged 7 right up to 17, all working collaboratively together (with their parents involved too!), in order to get creative, and learn new skills.

The project was a great success, with the only stumbling block being Covid-19 restrictions postponing the group’s final Gallery event. The event, a celebratory evening, will now be hosted at the Artz Centre later in the summer; and will display all of the photographic work created by this brilliant group over the duration of their course.

Here’s a small snapshot of the brilliant pieces that you can expect at the group’s gallery event:

About the course, home-schooling parent Alex, commented:

From everyone involved in this project (children and parents!) I have received nothing but amazing feedback. We all thoroughly enjoyed the sessions, and the opportunity to be creative and learn new skills. We’re really excited for the forthcoming gallery event, it will be a brilliant way to celebrate everything that was achieved and learnt during our sessions with Artz!
