At times like this, we often look for innovative ideas and new inspiration to keep us focussed and on track; and more often than not, that inspiration doesn’t come from our world leaders, but from our children.
The Artz Centre buildings have now been closed for nearly 4 weeks, and the Artz Team are well into the delivery of Phase 1 of the Artz “Lockdown Timetable”. But, it’s actually some of the smallest of our friends who are stepping up to make the biggest difference.
Artz students and sister-duo Emily and Lucy Thompson, wanted to make a small but heartfelt contribution this week, to their home-from-home during this time of crisis. Over the Easter weekend, we received a message from the girls, telling us how they had been saving up their pocket money for a theatre trip that had now been cancelled; and so instead, they wanted to donate their savings to help to pay the Artz Centre bills, during closure.
The Artz Team were truly taken a-back by the generosity shown by the girls; and whilst we don’t wish for all of our students to start forfeiting their pocket money to pay our gas bill, the Thompson girls’ act of kindness will certainly be remembered for a long time to come.
About the donation, Emily said:
“I didn’t have to think twice about donating my pocket money to Artz, simply because I want the Centres to stay open after lockdown, and I just wanted to show how much the place means to me. You are my second family”.
Little sister Lucy added:
“I just wanted to help too! I don’t need money now really because everything is cancelled at the moment, and right now the Artz Centre definitely needs it more”.
The entire Artz Team are very grateful for the gesture, and would like to remind the girls that by supporting the Centre, they are supporting so much more than just the Artz Team and the Artz Buildings, they are looking out for their entire community.
