The 60’s music scene well and truly belonged to The Beatles! Four lads from Liverpool who changed rock music forever. This weekend Artz Centre students will pay tribute to the Fab Four by taking on some of the group’s most iconic songs!
Each year The Artz Centre hosts three ‘Solo’ events, evenings of live music where Artz Students young and old alike take to stage to show what they’ve got. The theme for the first of this years solos is none other than the Beatles, giving students a massive 213 songs to choose from out of the band’s history.
However it is the debut of the Artz Band that may make Beatles Solo a moment in Artz history that people remember for years to come. Since January Sundays in the Artz Centre have been filled with jam sessions as the newly formed group, made up of 6 of the town’s most talented musicians, have been rehearsing for their first time on stage together this weekend.
The idea to create an Artz Centre band came about after realising the only way to pay true tribute to the Beatles was with a live band, one that showcased young musicians starting out; learning from their older band members, just as the Fab Four did at the start of their journey. Leading the group has been the Artz Centre’s Principle of Music James Ellwood, who’s own musical origins are rooted in Rock. The band are now rearing and ready to go, eagerly awaiting the second act of Beatles Solo where they will be supporting Artz Centre singers.
Tickets are still available for this weekends Solo, so if you fancy an evening of surefire great quality entertainment, be sure to contact the Artz Centre via email (tickets@artzcentre.co.uk) or by phone (01695733080)
