We all thought 2021 would bring a bit of normality with the turn of the new year. But nope, we were faced with our 3rd lockdown. But if there is one thing we’ve learnt about our students over the past 12 months, it’s that no level of adversity can stump their creativity. And their ability to tackle a challenge and grow as individuals, is nothing short of inspirational.
This final lockdown felt like it had room for just one more Artz competition. We’d shone a light on our singers, we’d celebrated our incredible dancers, but next it was time to see what our Artz actors could bring to the table. And so: SAY IT, was launched.
This fierce competition seriously put our students through their paces, recording a new monologue every week, for 6 episodes. Tackling themes from comedy, to contemporary, to classical Shakespeare; and for some context, our youngest student taking part was just 6 years old! We saw 23 competitors bravely submit their spoken content over 6 weeks, and along the way we where graced with the presence of some wise guest coaches, offering their expertise from the industry.
But of course, there could be only one winner; and come the final episode the brilliant KORI HALLAM was crowned our SAY IT champion.
